For the next year or so I'll be in Colombia working with the Fellowship of Reconciliation doing accompaniment work to support the San Jose de Apartado Peace Community.
The Fellowship of Reconcilation is an international, inter-faith, pacifist organization that started a couple of weeks before WWI. Throughout the decades they've been involved in the civil rights movement, resisting the draft, fighting nuclear proliferation, and fighting U.S. military base proliferation among many many other things. In 2001, FOR began an accompaniment project with the San Jose de Apartado Peace Community. The FOR Colombia Program has an extensive website worth browsing.
This blog exists as a way of providing people I know a personal account of some of the dynamics of what is happenign in Colombia from the fingertips of someone they know personally. Posts will come no more than once a month and will be a mix of personal updates, news, and analysis.
